IRMUK Article Why is connecting enterprise architecture domains so hard?

Description

In practice, this beautiful idea has however proven hard to implement. I argue this is because in EA context, we miss disciplines, abilities and tools for specifying data in a detailed enough manner.

Data is in the heart of enterprise architecture. Processes produce and use it. Applications store and exchange it. It is needed for measuring the process performance and in business analytics. And yet, whenever you ask people to specify data that is exchanged in process or application interfaces, you get at very best, vague answers. A vague answer would be, for example, “Order”, “Invoice” or “Project plan”. What data exactly about Orders. Invoices and Project plans, you may want to ask!
