A Process is a construct; it does not exists as a thing "out there". Essentially, a process must have boundaries (which maybe subjectively drawn) and must be scooped (what's in, what's out). Defining your process means studying the organisation and the work and identifying the process. The word "discovery" is sometimes used synonymously, but can also have a more specialised meaning, namely, discovering the mass of transactional data that as et of activities can generate.
